• Couple marry after meeting on Twitter

A woman advertises for a wedding date on Twitter, and three years later they're married!

You know how it is. You've been invited to a wedding, and while you can't wait to see the special people in your life declare their mutual and undying love before everyone they know, a little bit of you wishes you didn't have to rock up to the big day all on your lonesome.

But that's the whole point of Twitter, right? So that you can advertise for an obliging sort to accompany you to said nuptials, no strings attached?

Well that's the approach Llia Apostolou took to securing a date to accompany her to her sister's nuptials, posting an—admittedly half-joking—request for a knight in shining armour with availability on one particular weekend in July 2014 to make himself known.

Her criteria couldn't have been simpler: "Are you a man?" read her Tweet. "Can I borrow you for a wedding next weekend. Bonus points if you can source a baby that I can pretend is mine too," she added, tongue firmly in cheek.

It wasn't long before one Phil Gibson offered his services, claiming that not only was he free for said occasion, but that he was in possession of appropriate attire...

What followed was a marvellous series of breezy Tweets which gradually tipped into flirtation and a sense that these two could become more than just Twitter pals...

As it turned out, Phil didn't actually attend Llia's sister's wedding. Imagine how awks that would have been, after all. "Oh hi Mum, Dad...may I introduce you to some random bloke I met on a social network a few days ago?" But the pair did meet up that same week, and immediately hit it off. And three years later, we can reveal (since they already did—on Twitter, where else?) that they are now married!

And if that doesn't make you believe in fate, ladies and gentlemen, then nothing will...

Congrats Llia and Phil, we wish you all the luck and love in the world as you embark on married life.
