A new blog celebrates the wonderful ways it's possible to meet and fall in love

There are times when the world can feel like a pretty dark and joyless place. But then occasionally something comes along to remind is that true love not only exists—it abounds in a myriad of truly wonderful and soul-enriching ways.

That's why we're so head over heels in love with a new Instagram page which celebrates the many ways that loved-up couples all around the world first met.

We adore the story of Pat and Sam (pictured below before Pat passed away). They met over 60 years ago in England, where Pat was working as a secretary at the college where Sam was studying to be a heart surgeon. Now in his 90s, Sam is almost completely blind, but while Pat was still alive and living in a nursing home, he visited every single day. The blog reads: “When he arrives, he walks up to Pat and says, ‘Hello my dear,’ and then kisses her on the forehead. Then they go and sit in the same chair together—a chair the nursing staff have deemed ‘The Sam and Pat Love Seat.’"

Then there’s this gorgeous story: “My husband's name is Chance, which is ironic considering that's exactly how we met. I had just graduated college and was living back in my hometown Suffolk, Virginia. I was trying to reconnect with some old friends when I decided to reach out to Tyler, my childhood friend whom I grew up with. Tyler was in the military and had just returned home from Afghanistan on deployment. He brought along his roommate because they both needed to get out of the barracks and were looking to party for the weekend. That roommate of his was Chance, and when Tyler introduced us at the bar that evening, it was the beginning of a passionate love affair. After the weekend was over, Chance had to return back to his base in Jacksonville, NC but that wasn’t the end for us. We started taking turns driving 4.5 hours to see each other every weekend, and 8 months later, Chance proposed. Now we're coming up on 5 years of marriage & this past January, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Ember into the world. It was the realest, purest, rawest, and best moment of my entire life.”

And we just adore the story of Laura and Matt, who, having been best friends since the age of just three, blew everyone's minds when they tied the knot. Matt recalls the moment he knew he wanted to spend his life with Laura: "Laura and I met in preschool. One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front of my pre-school class, declaring that I would marry her someday. As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese. We have fond memories of playing hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously staying up during nap time. I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day. Eventually, we lost touch upon entering our Elementary School days and for the next seven years, our family's annual Christmas cards was the only way we ever saw each other's faces. It wasn't until High School that we reconnected by happenstance through a mutual friend. Within two weeks, we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. We continued to date through out all of High School, even though we went to different schools. We even stuck together long-distance while attending colleges in different states. We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015 when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I proposed to her at the place it all began... our preschool classroom."
