The Undateables 2017: Episode 3 Roundup (in which we meet Lizzie, Jamie and Luke)

The Undateables is back with a brand new series for 2017, and more big-hearted hopefuls looking to find their perfect match.

Missed the first two episodes? Catch up with Ian, Sam and Kate, and Eddie, Lily and Pani, as they attempt to find love.

INTRODUCING LIZZIE - THE GLAM CHICK DETERMINED TO FIND A FELLA FOR HER THIRTIETH

Her learning disability means she struggles with reading menus and counting money - something she worries people will make fun of. But that isn't stopping glitz and glam fan Lizzie from setting her sights on a boyfriend before she turns 30.

The 29-year-old met with theatre and exercise fan, Joseph. He has autism, and, like Lizzie, has also been single for four years. Like a true gent, he helped Lizzie to read the menu and from there the conversation began to flow. Numbers were swapped, a second date planned, and Lizzie thinks she might have found "the man in my dreams".

INTRODUCING JAMIE - THE GENGHIS KHAN FAN WITH AN ACTION PLAN FOR LOVE

At 22, military history enthusiast Jamie says that finding someone to spend time with would be like winning the lottery. But having Asperger Syndrome makes dating challenging. He has difficulty understanding anything that's not logical, worries that he'll say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or that he'll misinterpret something.

But he's willing to rise to the challenge in order to find the comfort and security of a good relationship. "I have a theory that it is possible to translate ideas from military strategy into dating... but it's currently an untested theory," he admits as he embarked on his journey to finding love.

Flame Introductions' Christine called up Jamie to share the news that a date had been found for him. And Jamie immediately set to work on a strategy. "At the end of the date if I am interested in seeing Ella again, I will offer to give her the umbrella," he explained, his logic being that if she accepts, she is interested and will have to see him again in order to return the umbrella. "There is no possible way that this plan can go wrong," he said.

His date with Ella, who also has Asperger's, got off to a rocky start, with both parties struggling to make conversation. But the chat soon started to flow. At the end of the meeting it was time to put into action Operation Umbrella. But there was a hitch: Ella had brought her own rain cover along for the event.

Though the pair didn't meet up again, getting himself back in the dating game has made Jamie confident that he will meet The One.

JAMIE'S LOVE BITES

"Why do people give flowers? [It's like saying] here, have this pretty life so it can die."

"I have about as much dating experience as my mum does snowboarding, i.e. none."

INTRODUCING LUKE - THE MULTILINGUAL CHATTERBOX LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL

Having autism means that Luke has struggled to find The One, but he's no shortage of confidence. "I'm charming, I'm handsome, I'm kind and I'm good looking and a bit smart and a bit chatty like a chatterbox."

He's also incredibly good at remembering facts and vocabulary, so when he met with his date Alice at their local ice cream parlour, he impressed with his vast knowledge of Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Swedish and other languages.

After a turn at the bowling alley, Alice - who also has a learning disability, and describes her dream boyfriend as "someone who's quite tall, quite cheeky, and who I can trust and relate to" - agreed to a second date. And after a romantic stroll by the seaside, Alice agreed to become Luke's girlfriend. "Today has been the best day ever, I feel love in my heart," she says.

LUKE'S LOVE BITES

"When [the heart] start pumping it feel delightful and fabulous. I want love more than anyone."
