Shoppers get free dating advice while doing their weekly shop

For anyone hoping to walk up the aisle one day, taking a stroll along a different sort of aisle – that of the supermarket variety – might just give you some invaluable insight into finding and keeping the man or woman of your dreams.

Or maybe not. Since heeding such lessons in romance among the fruit and veg shelves is unlikely to see you on your way to lasting love.

What they might do, however, is put a smile on your face as you contemplate the ripeness of an avocado. That’s if you’re a regular shopper at the grocery store where the work of comedian Obvious Plant has recently been appearing.

The harmless prankster, who previously gave shoppers a laugh with his instructions for testing the ripeness of fruit and vegetables (including “Pick up pear. Bite it. If it tastes gross, put it back”), is back with his equally dubious lessons for singletons.

Amongst the advice, features the ‘dating tip’:

“Show her that you’re a bad boy by covering your arms in Hot Wheels temporary tattoos.”

Shoppers are also encouraged to “Show up to the date with a small gift, like a bouquet of flowers or a 6-pack of chicken nuggets.”

And then there’s: “At the restaurant, tie a black belt around your pork chop and say, “HAHA LOOK NOW IT’S A KARATE CHOP!”

Further wisdom comes in the form of:

“Keep your options open: Swipe through Tinder while your date is talking.”

“No one likes a 3rd wheel. Ask her to bring a friend for your pet lizard.”

“Freshen up before a big date by bathing in the blood of your enemies.”
