London's perfect date location for chocolate lovers

While out and about in Brixton recently, the Flame Introductions team might have just hit on the perfect off-the-beaten-track location for a lovely London date.

The Chocolate Museum, tucked away just off the high street, is the brainchild of French artisan chocolatier Isabelle Alaya, the founder of Peckham-based chocolate shop, Melange Chocolates. Two floors are crammed with artefacts, some dating as far back as the 18th century, telling the story of the history of chocolate in Britain and France. It's all rather more Parisian boutique than Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory, making this a quaint and lovely little meet-up for fledging lovers.

A visit to a chocolate museum wouldn't be complete, of course, without a taste of the good stuff. Happily, there's a chocolate cafe on site where you can gorge on artisan chocolates and a fine cup of thick, gooey cocoa. And for the seriously sweet-toothed, there are regular chocolate making classes. Or, for a true match made in heaven, indulge in a chocolate and wine tasting workshops.

Visit The Chocolate Museum, shop and workshop at 187 Ferndale Road, Brixton SW9 8BA. Wednesday to Friday 14:00-19:00 and Saturday 10:00-18:30. Entrance is free. Nearest tube is Brixton.
