Beach dates: get sand between your toes this summer in London

A sunset stroll along the shoreline might just be the ultimate in romance. And this summer, even Londoners are getting a chance to get their toes sandy at a variety of pop up beaches.

Here's our pick of the best Malibu-inspired date locations.


The organisers behind this Thames-side bay have thought of everything: beach butlers, street food stalls and alfresco dining, covered seating (because this is still London), even yoga sessions. There's a bring your own booze policy, and booking is recommended (and filling up fast).

The Bloomsbury hotel bar has been transformed into a Barbadian themed beach bar, with tropical cocktails, barbecue snacks and ice cream cones on the menu. Squint a bit in the direction of the palm trees and you might actually forget you're in the middle of the best city on earth.

The scent of mint and exotic flowers lingers on this Cuban-inspired rooftop, where South American street food and drinks provide the fuel for visitors booking in for salsa classes and live music nights. There’s a full programme of yoga and high intensity workout classes on the beach, just in case you need to work off a bottomless brunch.
