The best wedding crashers of all time

True love is a simple story of boy meets girl, boy kisses girl, boy proposes, and ultra famous pop star shows up at the wedding celebrations to serenade the happy couple.

Okay, so the last part might not ring true for every happy duo. Every bride and groom will remember their wedding day with fond memories regardless of the presence of pop royalty. But when a chart-topping superstar drops by unexpectedly to accompany your first dance, it certainly ends an air of memorability to the occasion!

ED SHEERAN SURPRISES WEDDING COUPLE

As Australian couple Matt and Kya discovered when the local radio station that sponsored their wedding, revealed there was an extra surprise in store.

The pair were helped out financially with the cost of their big day, after radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O at KIIS 1065 discovered that the couple’s wedding plans had been put on hold after the bride tragically lost her mother. When the presenters learned that Kya had chosen Ed Sheeran’s classic love song Thinking Out Loud for their first dance, they got on the blower to the singer himself, and asked Ed if he would do the honours in person.Scroll to 1.55 minutes in the video to see the look on the bride’s face when the The A Team singer rocks up, wishes them a “happy wedding day” and invites them to take the floor as he starts to strum. Classic!

THIS BRIDE ‘WILL BE LOVED’

At the start of their music video for hit single Sugar (now viewed over 78 million times and counting), Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine announces that he and his band are going to spend a day driving around Los Angeles, gate-crashing as many weddings as they can find.

Fans were skeptical at first, believing that the beautiful brides and grooms – two of whom are shown in the above picture - featured throughout the video were actors and actresses. But one publication took it upon itself to investigate: wedding guests and photographers were sought out, and eventually they were able to confirm that yes, the weddings in the video are real, and the pure shock of the happy couple, their guests and wedding staff is the result of genuine disbelief!

A MILLION LOVE SONGS LATER…

When Gary Barlow was interviewed on television by James Cordon, he revealed that his best experience of social media had come when the best friend of his “biggest fan” contacted him to ask if he would perform at her friend’s upcoming wedding.

He realised that he recalled seeing her in the audiences of his shows, holding up signs begging him to put in a surprise performance. And when bridesmaid Emily proved persistent, Gary knew he had to dust off his tuxedo and put a date in his diary for Lou’s wedding.

There was a point in the video where we wondered if Lou’s new husband would ever get a look in again (watch when she rushes up to Gary as if she’s going in for a full on snog!). But once the shock has subsided, the bride and groom cosy up on the dance floor and sway to the lyrics of Take That’s A Million Love Songs. Simply gorgeous!
