London and UK: most romantic movies for summer 2015 outdoor cinema dates

Outdoor cinema is a London summer tradition. So pack up your blankets, blush wine and maybe an umbrella or two, and make a date with an open-air screen in the capital and beyond.

Here’s Spark Of Love’ guide to some of the most romantic movies showing across the season, perfect for a memorable date.

23rd June - Dirty Dancing (Shoreditch)

You might have already seen it a hundred times, but you haven’t hummed along to I’ve Had The Time Of My Life until you’ve done so from a deckchair on a Shoreditch rooftop at sunset. Wireless headphones means you don’t have to miss a beat of this fantastic love story; who can resist ‘Nobody puts Baby in the corner’? Also showing at Tonbridge Castle on 25th July, Lydiard House on 8th August and Lincoln Castle on 26th September.

30th June - Fifty Shades Of Grey (Alexandra Palace)

It’s this year’s hottest, most anticipated movie and one only for brave new daters to encounter together! Make the occasion truly memorable by watching Christian Grey have his way with the lovely Anastasia in true American style – at this drive in at Alexandra Palace. Also showing: Grease, Back To The Future and Stephen Hawking biopic and cry-fest The Theory Of Everything.

4th July – Breakfast At Tiffany’s (Sissinghurst Castle)

This classic Hollywood tale of damaged love might include some of the oddest acting in silver screen history (Mickey Rooney as the irate Chinese next door neighbour, anyone?) but we simply can’t resist Audrey Hepburn’s effortless glamour and that final kiss in the pouring rain. It’s all the more special when viewed chez picnic and lover in the grounds of Sissinghurst Castle. Also showing in Wandsworth Park on 29th July.

1st August – Pretty Woman (Fulham)

A festival atmosphere overtakes Fulham Park on the arrival of the annual pop up cinema screen, this year showing such classics as Julia Roberts and Richard Gere’s offbeat love story. Also showing are When Harry Met Sally, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Bridesmaids, The Notebook, and Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves. In other words a veritable slushfest!
