Love lifts us up where we belong. All you need is love. Popular culture would have us believe that love cures every ailment, that to fall into it is a prescription for a worry-free life.
But if you're currently in said falling status, you might be confused to find that it's not all hearts and flowers. You might find that the positive feelings of exhilaration, euphoria and energy are peppered with other, less favourable emotions: anxiety, panic and despair. Perhaps they're even making you doubt your feelings or your fledging romance.
Fear not, for this is entirely normal. Indeed, it's simply a sign that you are in fact falling head over heels in love. Dr Helen Fisher from Rutgers University has discovered that emotional instability—bouncing between extreme happiness over your newfound relationship status, and utter despair—is all simply part of the out-of-control-carousel-ride that is falling in love.
Furthermore there's not much you can do about it, other than just enjoy the ride. Hold on tight!
